Chrysanthemum Festival solicits mascot design

THE committee planning the autumn Songjiang Chrysanthemum Festival is calling for designs for a new official mascot.
The design must be based on the shape or quality of the flower. Entries must be submitted by the end of this month. They must be original and not have been used in the past.
Each applicant is asked to provide three photos of a design, depicting the front, back and sides. A brief explanation of each design is also requested with every entry.
The best design will be selected as the official festival mascot and its creator will be awarded 20,000 yuan (US$2,940).

This year’s festival will be held in the Wushe Agricultural Park on the southern bank of the Huangpu River.
The first Chrysanthemum Festival was held in 2014 and displayed more than 1,000 breeds of the flower.
Last year, auxiliary events including fruit-picking, a farmgate market, a photography contest and children’s play zone. The festival promotes Songjiang-grown products such as Maogang Town hairy crab, Yexie Town cake, Songling pork and Songjiang rice.
