Hospital scanning services
BY scanning the QR code with a smart phone, a patient at the Shanghai No.1 Hospital’s Songjiang Branch can now easily pay for treatment in 20 seconds.
It is the first time in Shanghai that a third-party payment system has been introduced in the field of medical care.
“It saves time because I don’t have to stand in long lines to complete various procedures and payments,” said patient Wang Dawei, who was using the one-stop self-service payment machine in the outpatient hall.
Wang is required to have frequent blood tests at the hospital. The process of registering, giving blood, waiting for the results, getting a prescription and then paying for all the services used to take hours.
“Now it can be done quickly, which makes it convenient for both patients and doctors,” Wang said.
In its first four days of operation, the third-party payment machine handled almost 1,400 transactions.
In addition, patients can directly pay while in treatment rooms. After a doctor has filled out a prescription, a QR code appears on the computer and the patient can instantly scan the code to pay.
Patients can also make medical appointments via their smartphones, once they have been linked with their medical insurance cards. This month, the hospital launched a service window on Alipay, a third-party payment platform.
