Infrastructure progresses
SEVEN high-priority infrastructure projects have begun construction and another four are set to start, according to the Songjiang Construction Management Committee.
The Jiamin Highway (Xinsong Road-S32) southern extension project is scheduled to be completed by November. The roadway will stretch 6.8 kilometers and cost 5.6 billion yuan (US$824 million).
The district’s power network will be completed by the end of this year, when two 220-kilovolt substations begin operation in the Huayang and Songgong areas. The total length of the project extends almost 60 kilometers. More than 190 families have been relocated for its construction.
An 11.4-kilometer renovation of Sichen Road between Qianxin and Husong roads is scheduled for completion by December. It includes new rainwater pipes, paving, curbing, bus stations and 22 overpass upgrades.
The second phase of Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES), based in Songjiang University Town, is about to begin construction.
The new campus will include an information center, a canteen and a postgraduate dormitory.
Projects to open up 16 dead-end roads to ease traffic congestion are also underway. Among the roads included are Chenta, Qingtian, Laifang, Huakuo and Minghua.
Sewage plants in Songjiang’s east, west and center are also to be upgraded, while construction of two fire stations in Sijing and Yexie towns was completed last month.
