Ink Paintings from Songjiang native artist
TO commemorate the 120th birthday of the artist Zhu Kongyang (1892-1986), Songjiang Museum is hosting a retrospective of his works through the end of February.
Born in Songjiang, Zhu was a celebrated Chinese ink painter and calligrapher who created a wide variety of artworks that include porcelain inscriptions and bamboo carvings.
The exhibition showcases more than 140 art pieces, including some of Zhu's stone carvings and inscriptions never before seen in public.
One of the highlights is Zhu's seal for Lin Zexu (1785-1850), who banned opium importing and burned opium in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
