Summer is harvest season of the popular fruit, and Songjiang peaches are considered top of the line.
Tiantian Orchard is hosting its annual peach festival through the end of this month. There’s no admission fee.
The 20 hectares of peach groves are irrigated by the upper reaches of the Huangpu River and mulched with organic manure. U-pick peaches cost 10 yuan per 500 grams.
While you are in the vicinity, try some of the local farm food specialties.
Sheshan Hill Peach Garden is offering whole roasted meat from animals who feed on organic peach tree leaves.
The garden is equipped with free Wi-Fi and a spacious parking lot.
A few steps away is Xingsheng Peach Garden. It’s a farm run on an ecological system of free-range chickens, ducks, goats and cattle. All the livestock are fed peaches and peach leaves. Their organic manure is used to fertilize the orchards.
