Philanthropic benefactor invests in people projects
In his 10 years of volunteering experience, Wu Hui started several charity projects and helped numerous impoverished senior citizens and students.
But in 2015, he came to realize that money is not enough to keep charity projects afloat, and he needed to find ways of maintaining the projects.
With this in mind Wu started Baixing Volunteers to fund college students in business and then invested a portion of their revenue into charity works, thus creating a self-sustainable cycle before establishing a foundation and standardizing the process.
The first beneficiary of the program was college graduate Fu Nengyue, who had been a volunteer with Baixing Volunteers since a freshman. Fu started his business in Wu鈥檚 operation base, selling Chinese herbs from Xiangxi, Hunan Province.
In helping Fu鈥檚 business patch, Wu created job opportunities for impoverished villagers from the mountainous area in Xiangxi, and recruited locals in his team.
Wu also initiated an online platform Yidilian, which provides customized programs according to volunteers鈥 time and preference, and many other programs that help senior, impoverished citizens and students as well as environment protection projects and medicare guiding service.
The organization has made donations worth of 1.3 million yuan (US$199,280).
