Pilotless assistance for farmers
A drone flies over the wheat fields in Wenhua Village, spraying pesticide over the crop.
It’s part of a demonstration project updating agricultural methods with the latest technology. Spectators who watched the demonstration were in awe of the pilotless aircraft.
Using drone technology for aerial spraying is being developed by Avic Shanghai Xinsheng Investment Co. and Shanghai Yingfeng Industrial Co. The two parties have signed an agreement aimed at collaborating on innovative drone use.
Drones are quite common in Europe and the US, but in China, their use was initially limited to the military in China. They have since been introduced into agriculture in the northeastern provinces, northern Jiangsu province and the Central Plains.
The companies said farm drones would be ideal in larger family farm operations in regions south of the Yangtze River. They plan to expand their marketing.
