The place to go for Spring Festival festivities
ZUIBAI Pond Park will launch its Spring Festival Gala featuring a host of cultural events to celebrate the Year of Rooster. It runs to February 15.
More than 60 print paintings done by students from Chedun Town will be exhibited in the park’s corridor. They draw on a century-old Songjiang-style of art that features big, bright colors and clean lines.
On January 24-26, local ink calligraphy masters will write free Spring Festival couplets for the first 50 visitors to the park every day. On February 1, local comedians will perform for residents on the park’s central lawn.
For the Lantern Festival on February 11, about 400 riddles written on red ribbons will be tied onto trees in the metasequoia forest. Visitors guessing the correct answers will win small gifts.
During the gala, children from the local folk music troupe will give performances featuring zithers, flutes, drums and gongs every day in Diaohua Hall.
Family games will include shuttlecock kicking, rope skipping, the gobang game, paper folding, beanbag throwing as well as drawing.
