Tourism on the Increase
DURING the three-day May Day holiday, 10 major tourist attractions in Songjiang logged almost 560,000 visitors, a third increase from a year earlier.
Ticket sales alone totaled 17.9 million yuan (US$2.7 million), according to the Songjiang Statistics Bureau.
The most popular sites were the National Sheshan Hill Forest Resort, which had 158,500 visitors, and Thames Town, which logged 130,600 guests.
The International Orchid Festival at Shanghai Chenshan Botanic Park attracted 107,800 visitors, a 115 percent rise from last year, while the azalea exhibition in Fangta Park received 27,300 people.
In the countryside, Xinbang Town welcomed 16,100 “urban farmers,” while the Wushe Modern Agricultural Park hosted 15,500 guests.
