Tram test successful

A test run of tramcar lines T1 and T2 from Zhongchen Road station to Canghua Road station has been a success.

A yellow tramcar nicknamed “Silkworm” steered into Zhongchen Road station at the conclusion of the test last month.

“The success of the power transmission and hot slide test means tramcar line T2 can soon begin its integration test,” said Shen Jian, deputy general manager of Songjiang Tram Company.

The first phase trial of Songjiang tramcar lines covers 18 stations from Zhongchen Road station on Line T2 to Canghua Road station on Line T1, and the Songjiang University Town branch line is included.

The 13.9-kilometer section will begin trial operation by the end of the year. And four pedestrian bridges are to be built.

It is estimated the main part of the bridge will be completed in October.
