Australian invasion on ICS
AUSTRALIA is not just about spotless blue skies, hanging out at the beach and kangaroos. Its film and TV industries are also thriving. Australia TV Week on English-language channel ICS from Monday to April 1 will give people here a chance to watch some of these programs.
During the week, a variety of shows will air on ICS every evening from 8pm to 9pm, providing a showcase for the better understanding of Australia, its sunshine, delicious food and beautiful coastline.
All of the programs are produced by the Australia Network, a highprofile channel owned by the Australia Broadcasting Corporation, which transmits to 46 countries and regions.
The TV programs provide an insight into Australian customs, cutting-edge technology, art and culture. They include Australian travel shows from the perspective of Asia-Pacific young people, art shows about the spirit and achievements of Australian and Asia-Pacific artists, documentaries about interesting people, as well as high-quality cooking shows to teach people how to make authentic Australian delicacies.
Bruce Dover, chief executive of Australia Network, says China and Australia share much in common and the two countries need to understand each other better.
To enrich Sino-Australia cultural communication, in return, a China Shanghai TV Week will be launched on the Australia Network in September.
High-quality local TV shows will be aired, taking Australians on a fascinating tour of modern China.
