Ballet on ice features top names, 3D effects
THE ice show "Artistry on Ice" will feature performances from both Olympic skating stars and the Harbin-born singer-songwriter Qu Wanting.
Considered ballet on ice, the figure skating show was initiated in 2010 by Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo, China's Olympic gold medalists and also a retired married couple from Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
Over the past three years, the gala has attracted many top figure skaters from around the world.
This year the four performances of the show will be staged in June in Taipei, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.
Zhao and his wife will be the art directors of this year's series.
For the first time, Zhao will also be the host of the show.
Singer Qu will present "You Exist in My Song" and "Drenched" while skating with Canadian ice skater Joannie Rochette and young Chinese skater Yan Han.
The show is a prelude to the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia next year. Skaters Johnny Weir and Stephane Lambiel will team up to showcase their creativity.
Ribbon dances, ice dancing and acrobatics will be part of the show, enhanced by large 3D projectors.
