Breathing new life into holiday tradition

THE Dragon Boat Festival is approaching once again, giving families a chance to spend some more time with one another on June 2.

Although festival customs vary across this vast country, eating sticky rice dumplings known as zongzi is essential everywhere.

Starbucks is happy to help everyone jump start the holiday celebrations with five unique flavors of zongzi, or dragon dumplings. First appearing in 2009, Starbucks’ innovative twist on the Chinese classic has generated genuine praise from its loyal customers. This year Starbucks brings back Cranberry Cheese zongzi, but is pleased to introduce four new flavors: Caramel Hazelnut Macchiato, Banana and Chocolate, Green Apple and Yogurt, and Mango and Passion Fruit.

Understanding the customers and giving them something new, yet familiar, is part of its approach to ensuring there is always a fresh surprise at Starbucks stores. The Cranberry Cheese zongzi combines the sweetness and tartness of cranberries with silky smooth cheese.

The Caramel Hazelnut Macchiato concoction uses carefully baked hazelnuts into a rich caramel macchiato stuffing.

Not to be missed is the Banana and Chocolate zongzi, which features just the right balance of the two ingredients to induce spasms of delight while eating.

A little more on the subtle side, Starbucks mixes green apples with coconut and yogurt to offer a zongzi with incredible character.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Mango and Passion Fruit zongzi. It irresistibly blends sweet and sour flavors for a refreshing early summer snack.

Starbucks also works hard to do its business in an environmentally friendly manner. The zongzi come in well-designed gift bags that are also water proof. Of course, these gift bags have been made in a way that does not harm the planet. They can be reused again and again.

Customers can also opt to buy a smart and fashionable handbag for an additional charge. Matching function and beauty is no easy task, but these handbags are the epitome of thoughtful design.

Starbucks’ commitment to providing a high-quality experience never wavers. This philosophy extends to service. Zongzi coupons can be purchased at any Starbucks store in Shanghai and the provinces of Zhejiang and Jiangsu. After making a purchase, customers can scan the QR code on the coupon and visit the website to select the nearest store to pick up the dumplings. Customers can also choose the date they want to pick up the zongzi. This can also be done over the telephone.

Change up the holiday routine with festive dragon dumplings. Adhering to tradition while adding subtle variations to a beloved classic is what Starbucks does. Gather family and friends and experience life the Starbucks way.
