Charity show benefits the blind
A charity photo exhibition titled "What If Love Is Blind?" features works by well-known Asian photographers.
Most of the photographs are black and white, reflecting the colorless world of many people with impaired vision.
Some are very dark and murky. Some are abstract with distorted images.
The aim is to raise awareness of the needs of people who are visually impaired.
The show features works by Wing Shya, Yasumasa Yonehara, Felix So, Zack Zhang, Joshua Lin and others.
The photographs will be sold to benefit Chinese people who are blind or suffer impaired vision. Proceeds will be donated to Orbis, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing and treating blindness and visual impairment in poor countries.
It is estimated there are 285 million people worldwide suffering from blindness and impaired vision.
Poverty and lack of medical treatment contribute to the problem and many doctors have little knowledge of ophthalmology.
Date: Through August 10, 10am-6pm
Venue: Lobby of Wheelock Square, 1717 Nanjing Rd W.
Admission: Free
Tel: 2219-1827, 2219-1826
