Dance about lonely women

Original modern dance focusing on women’s views of life will be presented by Jin Xing Dance Theater at Daning Theater on September 6.
The dance company will present four of its original works, including two new pieces, “The Cell” and “Have Fun,” which will be premiered. The other works are “Me and Me” and “9 Point.”
The new works were created by choreographers, Wang Tao and Sun Zhuzhen. “Have Fun” expresses loneliness and self-deception beneath the superficial “happy” urban exterior. It expresses how people cherish every moment of freedom in a life of high pressure and high stress.
Jin Xing is one of China’s most famous dancers. She is a modern dancer, ballerina, choreographer, actress, talk show host and talent show judge.
She founded the Jin Xing Theater in 1999 in Beijing. The next year she moved to Shanghai. It is China’s first private modern dance ensemble. Its repertoire includes “Shanghai Tango,” “Carmina Burana,” “From East to West,” “Shanghai Beauty” and “China Project.”
In 1991 Jin won the best choreography award at the American Dance Festival for her work “Half Dream.” This year she was one of the judges of the Chinese TV version of “So You Think You Can Dance.”
