Hot Asian hip-hop boys band to play

HIP-HOP lovers can join boys' band Far East Movement at Shanghai Grand Stage on August 13.

The first Asian band to gain the top spot on billboard, Far East Movement is spreading their hip-hop worldwide with songs featured in popular TV series such as "Gossip Girls," "CSI: Miami," "CSI: NY," "Entourage" and "Finishing the Game."

The four-man band includes Korean Americans J-Splif and Prohgress; half- Chinese, half-Japanese Kev Nish, and half-Philippine, half-American DJ Virman. The four grew up together in Los Angeles and set up the band in 2003, taking their name from a song they created together.

Their "Girls on the Dance Floor" rose to the top of the US billboard in 2008. Their song "Like A G6" in their 2010 album "Free Wired" used in popular TV series "Gossip Girls" brought the band instant popularity. The band was viewed 7 million times on YouTube.

Their "Free Wired" style describes a free yet connected live, 25 hours a day and eight days a week. The band was the opener for Lady Gaga's concert in Japan. They cooperated with Justin Bieber in his single "Live My Life," and Bill Kaulitz in his "If I Die Tomorrow."
