Lots of fun in store for kids

BESIDES performances, International Children's Day tomorrow will offer plenty of fun, including parties, exhibitions and chances to showcase their own talents on stage.

A Matchbox toy cars exhibition opens tomorrow and runs through August 12, evoking the nostalgia of parents who remember their own toy cars. All are as small as a matchbox and include many vehicles, such as police cars, race cars, trucks, ambulances and other tiny toys. The exhibition features around 2,000 metal and plastic Matchbox cars from four private collections.

The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is running an environmental protection event titled "My Green Planet." It includes an exhibition of sustainable seafood and aims to raise public awareness of the deteriorating ocean environment and seafood safety. Photographs and documentary video will show how human activities, such as over-fishing and dumping garbage, have harmed the environment.

Meanwhile, tomorrow children, aged from 2 to 8, are invited to a mini talent show at the Shanghai Sculpture Park. They can show off their singing and dancing and even prance down a fashion runway in the lighthearted competition. Children also can play interactive games.
