Man of Tai Chi

THE Chinese-American martial arts film is the directorial debut of Hollywood superstar Keanu Reeves.

Partly inspired by the life of Reeves' friend, stuntman Tiger Chen, the film centers on a young martial artist's unparalleled tai chi skills land him in a highly lucrative underworld fight club.

In the film, Chen takes the lead as a practitioner of the martial arts who must decide his path between being a pit fighter in black market fight matches and seeking the spiritual mastery of the art. He must face his personal demons even as he seeks to conquer the villain.

So the film has layers of philosophy that Reeves hopes will give the film more appeal than the average summer blockbuster.

Starring: Tiger Chen, Karen Mok and Keanu Reeves

Where to watch: Yonghua Cinema, Shanghai Film Art Center, Stellar Cinema City, Studio City Cinema, Peace Cinema, Cathay Theater, Grand Cinema, Broadband International Cineplex
