Mime does ‘Imagine Yourself’

A universal show called “Imagine Yourself,” winner of the Molière 2007 for best new male artist, will be staged in the city, presented by well-known French artist Julien Cottereau.

At the start of the show, a drop of water falls, then footsteps approach, and the ball is rolling. On the stage, there is no scenery, no sets, no accessories — just a man whose miming talent creates a world of monsters and princesses and a world of tenderness and emotion with simplicity and beauty. If he needs something, he invents it.

The 80-minute physical theater show focuses on humanity’s most beautiful and inexpensive treat — childhood, which he helps us rediscover in wonder.

Trained at the prestigious Cirque du Soleil, Cottereau is both a mime artist and a clown. In 2007, the success of “Imagine Yourself” on an international tour that included the United States, Australia, Belgium and Switzerland secured him the award for best new talent for one-man show in 2008, granted by French Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers.
