Minor-key recital of romantic works

France-based Chinese pianist Wang Fan will present a recital in minor key of romantic, melancholic and pensive classics on Sunday.

The program, at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, will include Scarlatti’s sonatas in D and G minor, Scriabin’s “Etude,” Schubert’s “Wanderer Fantasie,” Ravel’s “Alborada del Gracioso” and Liszt’s “Variations on a Theme by Bach.”

Wang, now 30, began to play the piano when he was only three years old. He studied in France since 2007 and is recognized as “a rising talent.”

Since 2012 Wang has devoted himself to music education in Shanghai. He teaches creative piano courses at various schools in Shanghai.
