National Geographic photos on display

Photography and adventure lovers will have a chance, starting on Wednesday, to see some of the most exciting and legendary photos and stories of National Geographic magazine.
Around 100 photos covering a wide range of wildlife, landscapes, humanities and space exploration will be displayed. The exhibit, called “To Know the World Is to Change It,” runs through September 8 and is part of National Geographic’s 125th anniversary this year.
Many of the images were taken by the magazine’s most renowned photographers. Paul Nicklen, a 44-year-old who also is a biologist, spent his childhood among the Inuit people and braves extremes of polar weather to bring back stunning photographs. The exhibit presents his photographic series about the stunning landscapes and animals of the North Pole.
Nicklen documents the lives of polar animals during his adventurous expeditions underwater and across the ice in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. His work aims to raise public awareness of protecting these vulnerable regions and its inhabitants.
According to officials of the exhibition’s co-organizer, National Geographic’s China edition, photography lovers also will be offered two lectures at 2:30pm on Saturday and on September 7.
Veteran photographers will be invited to share their expertise and experience in adventure and wildlife photography.
