Rockbund turns 15 with free revelry
ROCKBUND Art Museum (RAM) is free to the public as it celebrates its 15th anniversary.
Visitors can reserve slots online for entry to the museum.
RAM, as a non-profit art institution, responds to “artistic equity” by transforming the museum into an accessible public cultural space.
This shift to free admission enables the museum to achieve its vision and enhance the connection between art, culture and the community.
RAM is also introducing the experimental “Nula Economy” project by artist Irena Haiduk.
The project will explore a new model of audience participation through an art token mechanism, initiating a “de-monetization” social experiment.
Visitors can buy these tokens or earn them through volunteer work, participation in museum events, or other collaborative projects. Tokens can be exchanged for limited slots in lectures, performances and workshops or used to purchase souvenirs. Proceeds from the tokens will support the museum’s exhibitions and public programs directly.
The museum pointed out that the initiative was not a replacement for admission but an experiment in redefining the value of participation. When money is no longer a barrier, a deeper connection between audiences and art is established through creative contributions and community engagement.
A new art library on the museum’s sixth floor is also open. It features a curated selection of rare books, contemporary art publications, exhibition catalogs, archives and hard-to-access primary sources of reference.
“Ash Moniz: A Crack in the Shape of Light Getting In” is also on display now at the museum.
