Shanghai shutterbugs capture Expo spirit
Shanghai shutterbugs are again capturing their images of the city and the World Expo in a contest running throughout the Expo, ending October 31.
This is the third "Expo Impression -- Shanghai Citizens' Digital Photograph Contest," following two very popular earlier competitions in the run-up to the Expo.
The theme is "Expo Going Along."
Anyone in Shanghai can post their works at the Website www.shimage2010.com.
At the conclusion, winners will be selected from among all those taking part in the three contests.
The competitions are organized by the Shanghai Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, the Shanghai Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
Winning photos in the second contest were recently displayed at the Shanghai Xuhui Art Museum. The three-month contest began in August and attracted more than 2,000 photos, expressing enthusiasm for the Expo and the city.
Many shots focused on the preparations and construction for the Expo.
The first prize went to Yi Shiren's work comprised of four photos, all taken from the same spot but on different dates, offering different views of progress. From top to bottom, they were shot in November 2004, 600 days before the opening, 300 days before the launch and this April.
