Traditional Chinese physiognomy

PHYSIOGNOMY is a study based on experience, according to David Fang, a master in the art of Chinese face reading that goes back thousands of years.

It is true that people with a friendly look can receive more help from the others and thus leading a lucky life. And face readers in old times collects some of the common grounds as lucky symbols, such as fleshy nose and big earlobes.

Some of the widely accepted beauties and celebrities are against some of the doctrines, but lucky symbols alone won't decide much of your fate. How they coordinate with each other also matters a lot.

Therefore, Fang is against taking plastic surgery to make specific facial organs more "lucky."

"Everybody is born with a face of balanced yin and yang. Altering any specific part for luckiness may possibly break the balance and brings bad luck," says Fang.

And as for those who are born with "non-friendly look," Fang advises that smiling more is more effective than altering features.

Some lucky symbols:

Full forehead. A full forehead indicates a bright future and successful career. Most celebrities or successful businessmen are born with a full and smooth forehead without any birthmark or scars.

A woman with a full forehead is believed to indicate a bright future and successful career for her husband.

Nose with straight bridge, wide nose wing, round and fleshy nose apex. Nose is believed to tell the luck for wealth. A straight nose bridge signals a successful career with few reverses. A round or styliform nose apex gives the impression of good faith. A woman with such nose can help add luck to her husband's money making.

A square-round and fleshy chin. Though a sharp chin may makes a woman's face more attractive, it is no symbol of luck in traditional Chinese physiognomy. It usually suggests a not-that-successful marriage and later years of life.

On the contrary, a woman with a square-round and fleshy chin can lead an easy and lucky life, especially in her later years of life. She is also believed to be a better half for the husband, as she is usually good-tempered, generous and reliable.

There are also sayings stating that a square-sound and fleshy chin also tell the future of later generation for both men and women.

Big and fleshy earlobes. People with big and fleshy earlobes are born with good luck. And due to good luck, even though they suffer some reverses occasionally, they will get over it and end in good luck. A woman with soft big earlobes is believed to be merciful, generous and considerate, especially for the family members.

Moderate cheekbones. The cheekbones are servants for the nose in Chinese physiognomy; they should always be lower than the nose. If you have a Norman nose, relatively higher cheekbones still work for good luck, otherwise, it is no lucky symbol.

A woman with high cheekbones is usually considered selfish and not easy-going, domineering in a marriage, a poor mate.
