Bund New Year’s Eve countdown can be seen in person or on TV show
THE laser display and New Year’s Eve countdown on the Bund can be experienced in person or seen at 11:45pm Tuesday on Shanghai-based Dragon TV in the comfort of your home.
Images of children’s paintings and their smiling faces will be projected first on the landmark buildings of the Bund, such as the Customs House, and to take audiences onto a colorful, enchanting and dreamlike adventure, according to Zhao Lei, director of the laser show.
“The show will last for around 8 minutes,” Zhao said. “In addition to the images of giant snowmen, carousels and Tetris, visual sequences about the big events of the year will also be projected.
“Also, images of local basketball star Yao Ming and his family will be featured to present a heartwarming ambience,” Zhao said.
Those opting to attend the event are advised to arrive early since it usually attracts large crowds.
On Tuesday at 7:30pm, Dragon TV will air a New Year’s gala featuring a hilarious singing competition of celebrities and finalists from “Chinese Idol.” The stars will compete on two teams under the leadership of noted mainland singer Han Hong and actor Huang Xiaoming. This year, the performances will be judged mainly by the audience.
On New Year’s Day, it will broadcast an awards ceremony at 9:45pm to honor outstanding TV and radio anchors. More than 20 anchors will be selected based on the votes of critics, the audience and Internet users for their impressive contribution to the TV industry.
Radio anchors of Shanghai will also present a “goose dance” show with children. The entertaining “goose dance” is specially created for white-collar workers who often lead a sedentary lifestyle that may result in back problems and pain.
The show’s video clip will be posted on www.eastradio.com as a prelude to next month’s “Voice Gala,” which is to select the city’s most popular radio hosts.
Film actress and fashion idols will take to the runway in a New Year’s fashion show broadcast on Channel Young at 10pm on New Year’s Eve. They will wear costumes by well-known Chinese designers Laurence Xu, Zheng Xiaodan and Zhang Chi.
The 10pm show will include a gala retrospective of major events in the fashion industry in 2013.
