The Figurine Exhibition 2013, which is said to be the first of its kind in the city and featuring nearly 3,000 figurines and drawings, is currently underway at 1933 Old Millfun, a slaughterhouse-turned-creative park in Hongkou District.

The figurines, made of advanced resin in Japan, will win the heart of many fans around the world.

The exhibition space is divided into first floor, second floor and mezzanine floor, according to Zhang Wei, one of the organizational staff members at the show. “It is almost like a kaleidoscope where the surprise and amazement are waiting ahead for the visitors.”

The backdrop of the exhibition space is also categorized into eight colors, reminding the visitors of the different themed areas varying from heroes, creatures to Mecha and cartoon girls.

“Based on the superb technique and creative imagination, these figurines in different sizes represent the personal dream and a never-dying spirit in overcoming all difficulties,” Zhang says.

“All of them are familiar to cartoon lovers since they are the characters in the cartoon films, but now they are real in life, where visitors can get a closer look,” Zhang adds.

Some of the figurines, including Ultraman, are even enlarged into a life-sized versions to win the eyeballs of those in attendance.
