Eco Design Fair promises fun with a green twist
ECO Design Fair, a grassroots community event, is here again this weekend in Shanghai gathering eco-friendly brands, stores, services and community groups at the Jing An Kerry Centre.
The aim of this year’s fair is to provide the community with tools to support environmentally positive design and a green lifestyle. This includes events and workshops aimed at promoting awareness of green and healthy practices as well as environmentally friendly clothing, food, transportation and living options.
It is also timed to coincide with the World Environment Day, which falls today.
Around 15,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, which is centered around the theme “Transportation and Movement.”
The weekend’s activities include eco-friendly workshops, a farmers’ market, an eco marketplace, an eco children’s corner, a chef’s corner with food exhibitions and an environmental art exhibition. There will also be live music and dance performances.
Children of all ages can look forward to a great time at the eco children’s corner where visitors can join various workshops and learn how to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle while having fun.
“This year’s Eco Design Fair will focus on environmental issues of urban transportation and movement. This event will explore topics such as eco tourism, sustainable transportation and people’s transport habits and patterns,” says fair organizer Cyrielle Mohara.
The weekend event, organized by Spectrum, Wobaby Basics, Pepe & Pilar and other organizations, aims to improve the quality of life of visitors by taking small, simple and positive steps.
Around 45 eco-friendly brands will be exhibiting at this year’s fair allowing visitors to interact with environmental leaders and see the newest eco-friendly products and designs, enjoy food and wine from eco-friendly brands.
“Although this year’s eco design fair is going to be a smaller compare to previous years, it is definitely going to be richer in quality. A few new eco-friendly brands joined us this year and we also have new activities such as a workshop where visitors can make their own bamboo bikes,” says Mohara.
