Event to include eminent names in global design

Design Shanghai, which calls itself “the city’s first truly international design event,” will run from Thursday to March 2 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
Organized by Media 10 and Shanghai Art Fair International Exhibition, the event is expected to attract over 40,000 architects and interior designers around the world.
More than 150 world-renowned design brands will be presented, many of which have never been seen in China, according to organizers.
Design Shanghai will be divided into contemporary, classic and collectible halls, with overall an area of 10,000 square meters in the renovated Russian-style Shanghai Exhibition Center.
Magis, Fritz Hansen, Se London, Boss London, Amtico, Ginger & Jagger, Cole & Son and X+Q are on the exhibitor list. The exhibition will also include an impressive selection of curatorial content from leading Western and Chinese designers.
Design Shanghai will include commissioned entrance tunnels, outdoor installations, a champagne bar, auction lounge, pop-up café and seminar theaters.
“We are happy to work with Media 10, the organizer of the 100% Design, London and Clerkenwell design weeks,” says Gu Zhihua, director of Shanghai Art Fair International Exhibition. “This is an exhibition that will open the eyes of visitors to how design can change life.
“In fact, design is the gray area between art and industry. But the opportunity to experience the top design products of the West is quite rare, and Design Shanghai will be a platform to introduce them to local visitors,” Gu adds.
The event will host an extensive seminar program of prolific Western and Eastern designers who will discuss the future of design.
