Feng Xiaomin’s love of colors on show
“THE Master of Color, by Feng Xiaomin” is a solo exhibition of works done by the France-based Chinese painter.
The exhibition at Jing’an Sculpture Park Art Center runs through April 17.
Born in 1959 in Shanghai, Feng was very passionate about art since early age, especially in calligraphy and painting. After graduating from the Chinese art school, he settled down in France in 1988, and entered the Ecole Nationale Superieure de Beaux-Arts de Paris.
He decided to stop calligraphy and concentrate on painting. Some critics said his works reflect “a deep Chinese culture which is blended with the colors of the West.”
Feng’s landscapes have the unique discipline of calligraphy.
Some compare him with J.M.W Turner, who is known as the “painter of light,” and is regarded as a romantic preface to impressionism.
Feng’s works have been exhibited around France.
From 1997 to 2000, he taught at the Ecole. Some of his paintings have been incorporated in the national educational books.
