Time to 'Dance Again' as J.Lo comes to town

SUPERSTAR singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is bringing her diva-esque talents to Shanghai on Saturday for her first gig in the city and the only Chinese mainland stop in her "Dance Again" world tour.

The tour covers the 43-year-old New York-born star's musical career to date, which encompasses R&B, dance, funk and Latin pop among other styles.

Songs likely to be featured on the set list include "Dance Again," "Goin In," "On the Floor," "If You Had My Love" and much of the 10-million selling "J.Lo" (2001) album.

"The music industry has changed a lot since my debut record (in 1999), but I think that fans' love of music has not," Lopez says.

In the past year, Lopez has returned to music and dance - which she describes as her first love - and film in a big way. This follows two-year stint as a judge on the "American Idol" TV talent show.

"I really wanted to get back into focusing on film projects, music, my first-ever world tour and spending more time with my children," she says.

The "Dance Again" tour began in Panama in June and following a month of performances in Latin America moved to the United States. Other stops on the current leg include gigs in Malaysia, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.

Lopez is considered the most influential Hispanic performer in the US and in 1998 received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in "Selena."

"Being an actress and creating music as an artist are really my passions," she says. "Looking back over the film roles that I have had and music releases, they all come at a time when it makes sense in my life. Art and life sometimes reflect each other."

Lopez became a mother four years ago, giving birth to twins - a son and a daughter - and says her have changed her life in so many ways. "I learn just as much from them as I hope they do from me," she says.

Being in the entertainment business and the public eye is not always easy to juggle, and then adding a personal and family life to the mix, can be difficult at times, according to Lopez.

"I have found that if you eat healthy, get plenty of rest and have a practical exercise routine you can achieve your maximum potential," she says.

Shanghai audiences look set to experience the benefits of this regime when J.Lo take the stage on Saturday.
