A global citizen prepared for the challenges of life
GRADUATION is the day that every student dreams about, but is never quite ready for. As a freshman in high school, my teachers used to tell me that I was being prepared for college and that all the hard work would pay off. I remember thinking that I would be at the top of the food chain in just a few more years.
Soon the schoolwork, extra-curricular activities, and sports practices had me busier than I ever thought possible. Instead of thinking of the years I had until graduation, I was striving to finish the week. Little did I know that every victory, whether in the classroom or on the court, had played a role in shaping the person I am today.
I don’t know what it’s going to be like to start at a new school in a new place. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared about the challenge of a university education. But no matter how terrifying the future and this change may be, I know that I truly am prepared.
Every difficult test taught me that sometimes I will fall, but that should never stop me from getting back up again. Every step onto the court taught me that I would have to rely on those around me to succeed. High school taught me to understand the complexities of life and how to handle situations, from the small to the big. Concordia taught me to be a global citizen who embraces the world.
