Big Apple success for BISS Year 13s
OUR trip to New York was an absolute success! Every second of it was a memorable experience, from visiting the United Nations, representing our school and the teenagers of today at the UNICEF summit, to the extensive and vibrant evening program.
I learnt a lot in New York, especially about the sustainable development goals, which are achievable so as long as we work towards them in the right way, at the right pace and share our knowledge about the different goals.
We were taught how important it is for us to take charge as members of the future and to share our knowledge with our schools and our friends to try and be part of achieving these goals, a project that will be continued by the British International School of Shanghai and the other NAE schools around the world through the global challenge.
Additionally, as part of the press team reporting on the event, we were taught how to write a good blog. It was a great experience posting pictures on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, and showing all what we were doing as NAE ambassadors in New York.
Another important experience was the physical and vocal workshop at the Julliard School, where we were stretched to our limits when choreographing a physical performance with only a few movements and one single sound.
It taught us how to control and maintain body tension, composure and concentration as well as new methods of vocalization; all of which are very useful in public speaking.
Other highlights included the fantastic two-day MUN conference held at one of the Nord Anglia Education international schools in New York where we discussed matters focused on sustainable development goals like food security and well-being.
