Charity at YCIS: Student perspectives
WHILE we were on the trip, I really started to realize how different people's lives in China are depending on where they live.
By going to school at YCIS, I remain very open-minded toward many things, and I think this could be due to the international environment and diversity of the student and teacher body. I am really grateful that YCIS gives me opportunities like (visiting Minzhu Primary School) to help make a difference and experience a whole new aspect of China. The trip helped me open my eyes, as I saw how little acts of kindness could really bring smiles to so many faces. I learned to really appreciate China, not just as one country, but in different aspects and cultures.

The main purpose of the Seeds of Hope trip was to improve the local school, which YCIS had built by finishing the facilities as well as meeting and bringing joy to the students there. On the first day we got there, the YCIS students from different campuses worked together to assemble sports facilities and construct a basketball court for them.
The children were welcoming and enthusiastic and we exchanged plenty of valuable memories with them by the time we had to leave. It was a joyous experience to be able to bond with the students and simultaneously be able to live within a local Chinese community.
