Job fair offers chance for corporate role play

Recently our class participated in a mock job fair. Students teamed up and acted as either the CEO of a company or an employee applying for a job at the company. After the interviews, we sent e-mails letting our interviewees know whether they had the job.

This was a very interesting exercise as it allowed us to work on our professional e-mail writing skills. In the interviews we discussed possible ideas for new products to sell later in the month at our upcoming Entrepreneur Fair.

Here is the letter I (CEO) sent to my newest employee.

Dear Gavin,

I am aware that you have many skills when it comes to technology, and I hope that said skills will be applied to any work that is done in our company. I expect great results from you, and I am confident that you will not only reach our company’s standards, but exceed them. I am confident you will bring positive energy in working with the rest of the team. All of the team has some sort of athletic background, proving that you are all team players.

On the subject of product, I think we should sell both food and drinks so as to provide customers with efficient and quick purchasing of goods. Also, this way, if the consumer feels thirsty, they can buy from us as well (creating more traffic).

Welcome to the team. I look forward to our initial planning meeting tomorrow.

Regards,

Sean Richards
