Lessons learned from a hike up the Chuihua Mountains
We arrived in Xi鈥檃n on a bright and wonderful morning. We were at the Chuihua Mountains, a mountain range at a height of more than 500 meters above sea level. We had taken a bus to the hiking point at the center of the main mountains. At the foot, there was a science museum. Inside the museum, there were many interesting minerals. There also was a big three-dimensional map of the mountain range. After we went past many minerals and crystals of different shapes, we went outside the museum and ate our lunch.
We then started the long hike up the mountain, following a local guide. The hiking was dangerous because we were walking across tiny log bridges with no handrails and slightly bigger bridges with handrails. They both were above huge rocks and shallow rivers. Some naughty students were shaking the bridge and the bridge was shaking a lot. But luckily, no one fell. In fact, we all had a lot of fun hiking up the path and walking across the bridges. After two hours of hiking, we were exhausted and most of us were eager to head back down to the buses.
When we reached the foot of the peak, all our other friends were waiting for us on the bus, and they looked frustrated, however, we had a lot of fun. It was a memorable event and I believe an important lesson some students should have learned was to be more considerate. Another lesson we learned was to not waste a lot of time walking slowly.
