Making new friendships and making a difference

“Jambo!” were the first words we heard when we arrived in Tanzania. Over 100 students from Nord Anglia Education schools all over the world including from China, Qatar, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic all joined this exciting expedition to Tanzania.

The entire trip was jam packed with thrilling activities. We went to numerous places including a traditional Tanzanian village and went on a massive safari with breathtaking views and majestic animals. However, the best part of the trip was helping others that are in need.

The community there selected some families that were most in need and then we helped each family by giving them a milking goat and building them a goat shed, which together would provide them with a source of income. The experience of helping other families was very rewarding; a lot of us picked up a hammer for the first time!

Although the task was exhausting, everyone was very grateful for the experience and we got our reward for our hard work in the form of smiles and thanks from the families that we helped, which we all really appreciated.

Another experience that we will all remember is when we visited the orphanage and primary school. Their school lacked even simple amenities such as electricity and running water, but although their conditions were tough they were determined to learn.

The Tanzania Expedition was something extremely memorable and will definitely not be forgotten any time soon. We made great new friendships, got to see exotic animals but most importantly, we made a difference.
