Mature-looking student not quite ready to be ‘the boss’

During weekends and holidays, people like to go to the mall to shop for clothes. I like to go to the mall too, but mostly to get rid of my boredom, or to avoid leftovers from home. Last weekend, my father and I went to Wanda Plaza to eat at a Japanese restaurant. It was good meal. That is, until the waitress came to me.

At this moment, something annoyed me a little because it happens all the time: the waitress walked up to me and handed me the receipt and a pen. I was thinking, do I really look that old? I’m just 15!

Ok, I admit, my mustache makes me look a bit older. I’m taller than dad (well, taller than everyone in my family, really). I wear glasses. And, to top it all off, I’m even getting white hair.

I thought for a while this would only happen to me in China, as most men don’t have facial hair. Most are at least half a head shorter than me. And I have yet to see a person younger than 40 with even one gray hair. But no, I assure you this happens everywhere.

Anyway, that’s not important. Back to the Japanese restaurant. The waitress gave me a receipt and waited for my response. I stared at my dad as he put his wallet back in his pocket. He crossed his arms, smiled, and said, “Well, I guess you’re the boss today!”

I guess it’s time to ask for more allowance.
