SUIS Gubei offers multiple paths to success

At Shanghai United International School Gubei, students achieved top marks in each subject group during this year’s International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma examinations. Joyce Lee achieved the maximum score of 45 points, making her one of only 150 students worldwide to do so. She is now studying at Cambridge University, England. Lee will join another SUIS alumni at Cambridge, Amos Fong.

At SUIS Gubei we offer an academically rigorous IB Diploma Program that provides sought-after qualification for the world’s top universities. Again this year our graduating students demonstrated strong academic skills and gained entry to the world’s leading schools, including University of Cambridge, University of California, University of Edinburgh, Boston College, University of Melbourne, Kings College London, University College London and University of Toronto.

At SUIS we believe in excellence in every subject. We have celebrated students’ successes in mathematics, sciences, languages, humanities and the arts. In the past academic year we achieved excellence with our IB visual arts exhibition at a professional gallery in Shanghai’s Moganshan area, as well as our Science Fair, Bilingual Speech competition, Model United Nations, the World Scholars Cup and various mathematics competitions. Our continued success is due to our talented students and our caring and dedicated teaching staff.

Of course, at SUIS Gubei, we’re not only concerned with test results. We care deeply about the development of students as individuals and community members. Community awareness, and involvement both locally and globally, are among our aims as we develop internationally-minded students with initiative and confidence. For instance, this SUIS community raised close to 100,000 yuan (US$15,664) for the local Healing Hope charity and our talented music students produced in our recording studio an album of original music which raised 10,000 yuan for earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.
