Art works reflect social changes

“TURNING Point: Contemporary Art in China Since 2000” is a group show at Minsheng Art Museum through September 4, featuring the works of 52 artists and art groups.
The exhibition of paintings, sculptures, installations, videos and animations takes up the whole first floor of the museum. Big-name artists Cao Fei, Feng Mengbo and Li Songsong also brought their works to the show.
As suggested by its name, the exhibition attempts to sum up changes in people’s thinking and behavior after year 2000 and reflect on emerging social problems through visual art.
“With the increased involvement of the Internet, film and television, and new media, modern art is evolving and adding new capacity of visual expression, which visitors will find at this exhibition,” said Yi Ying, the curator of the show.
A symposium will be held during the exhibition with critics and scholars from a wide spectrum to talk about modern art and its representation of social issues.
