Children's Day events abound

A variety of interactive and inspiring activities will take place around the city to celebrate the Children's Day.

Shanghai Ocean Aquarium will launch an exhibition on June 1-10 about the importance of protecting sea creatures and the world's oceans.

During the exhibition children will learn how over-fishing, the greenhouse effect and sea water pollution have posed a big threat to the existence of many marine creatures.

Meanwhile, Haha TV will host a charity carnival at Shanghai Mass Art Center on June 2.

Children are invited to play games while there will also be a charity auction, a painting exhibition by autistic children and a quiz contest about environmental protection awareness. "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf" film series will be shown for free. All carnival proceeds will be used to fund art training sessions for the city's autistic children.

Also on June 2, Shanghai Sculpture Park will hold a children's fashion show and competition for 100 children from two to eight years old. Children walking down the runway will be encouraged to give some improv performances.

French magician Eric Antoine will perform on June 1-2. The 26-year-old combines magic with comedy. His show is geared towards the whole family.
