Exhibition honors charity role models

The Power Station of is putting on a new exhibition honoring 2015’s Arts Charity Figures which will run till February 23.
Initiated by the Art Cultural Development Foundation, the exhibition pays tribute to charity figures who have made outstanding contributions to society in the past year.
A variety of short videos, photos and installations are combined to tell the stories of the figures.
Among the figures is the celebrated 91-year-old conductor Cao Peng, nominated for conducting free concerts for autistic children as well as for his promotion of classical music for the general public. The work of former middle school teacher Sun Heng, who presents regular free performances for migrant workers, and Mi Cheng, who is engaged in preserving the age-old folk arts in China, is also part of the exhibition.
Jiang Hongyuan, who frequently organizes special blind-accessible film screenings, is also honored as an Arts Charity Figure in 2015. After watching the film a few times to gain a deep understanding of the lines and scenes, Jiang and his team offer a clear narration of the story line for the blind.
According to Li Lin, curator of the exhibition, charitable projects can be well promoted among the public with arts as a means of expression.
