German Singer

GERMAN singer and actress Ute Lemper will perform with SSO Chamber Orchestra at Shanghai Symphony Hall. A graduate from a professional drama school in Vienna, Lemper began her music life at the age of 16 as a member of a jazz-rock music group. She played numerous roles in musicals such as Velma Kelly in the revival of “Chicago,” Sally Bowles in the original Paris production of “Cabaret,” and a breakthrough role in the original Viennese cast of “Cats.” She also dubbed the singing voices of Ariel in Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” for German-speaking audiences. Named Billboard’s Crossover Artist of the Year for 1993/1994, Lemper is also a prolific recording artist. She has published numerous pop albums, variously in English, French and German. She will perform “The Nine Secrets” at her concert in Shanghai.
