Giselle back with modern costumes

GISELLE, a top classical ballet, is being staged again, this time by Guangzhou Ballet, on November 17-18 at Shanghai International Dance Center.
The ballet, which premiered in 1841, has been a repertoire for almost all ballet companies in the last 100 years. The sharp contrast between the sunny world of humans and the dark kingdom of spirits has always been the highlight of this ballet.
Based on the original French version, Guangzhou Ballet adapted it to fit the modern times with contemporary features in costume, stage settings and lightening. The National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra has also rearranged the music to emphasize on the emotions.
