HK artist鈥檚 paintings reflect philosophy of Taoism
HONG Kong-based artist Zhou Zunde’s solo painting exhibition in Michelle Art Shop, Shanghai, is his second show in town and the first in over seven years.
Zhou was born in 1941 in Anhui Province and moved to Hong Kong with his family when he was 8. After graduation from university in Hong Kong, Zhou went to Paris for Western art study, which was soon followed by a visit in 1968 to Japan on a quest for Japanese art.
Four years later, in 1972, Zhou named his own style as Tao painting. Zhou has since held 40 shows of his Tao paintings worldwide, and his works are widely kept by museums, hotels, banks and temples.
Tao, or Taoism, may refer either to Taoism philosophy and Taoism religion. Zhou’s paintings are about Taoism’s philosophical side.
