Making a splash with ray pavilion

A RAY pavilion has been launched at Changfeng Ocean World, giving visitors an opportunity to meet these fascinating fish.

Rays, which can range from 0.5 meter to 7 meters, are closely related to sharks, and like sharks have skeletons made of cartilage.

The ray pavilion includes an interactive zone for children to touch marine life usually displayed behind glass.

Sea creatures allowed to be touched include starfish, crabs, sea urchin, sea snails and sea cucumbers. Children can have a lot of fun and feel the physical characteristics of the varied species, say officials.

Since most rays are kite-shaped with long, thin tails, they remind some people of kites. Picking up on this, Changfeng Ocean World is presenting a kite festival on its green areas, where children are encouraged to paint designs on kites.

Date: Daily, 9am-5pm

Venue: Changfeng Ocean World, 451 Daduhe Rd

Tickets: 160 yuan for adults, 110 yuan for children

Tel: 6223-8888
