Oliver Stone to show up at local film festival again
FAMED American filmmaker Oliver Stone, who was a judge for the Golden Goblet Awards at the first Shanghai International Film Festival in 1993, will attend the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival next month.
Stone, 67, will walk the red carpet to receive an award for outstanding achievement at the festival's opening ceremony on June 15.
Seven of his representative films, including the Oscar-winning "Platoon," "Wall Street" and "Born on the Fourth of July" will be screened during the festival.
He will also interact with local fans and take part in the festival's Masters Class to share his filmmaking experiences with Chinese directors.
Stone, acclaimed of his films that delve into political and cultural issues of contemporary America, earned two Academy Awards for Best Director with "Platoon" and "Born on the Fourth of July."
