Orchid Show

The Shanghai International Orchid Show opens today at the Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden and will go through May 8. It features about 30,000 orchids of over 600 varieties. Half are from overseas countries such as Thailand, Japan, Spain, Uganda, Indonesia and Ecuador. Some species are rarely seen, such as Vanda, monkey and moth orchids. Some orchids have chocolate aroma and some have long and drooping leaf looking like necktie. During the exhibition, an orchid competition to pick up the orchid champion will be held as well as a wedding dress flower show.
