Photo show pays tribute to war heros

IN memory of the 70th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, 200 photographs of war veterans and historical sites are on display at the Shanghai Putuo District Library.
The exhibition includes striking black-and-white portraits of some 70 veterans.
Photographers Wang Jie and Qian Weizhong spent four months visiting these heros, aged 84-99, and recording their stories.
Another area of the exhibition features pictures of remade historical sites where Chinese civilians fought back against Japanese invaders.
When the show concludes, the photos and supporting audio interviews will be presented as a gift to Shanghai’s city archives.
