A la carte menu at bistro and rum bar
TRUE to French bistro tradition, Bounty X offers authentic food in a casual, relaxed atmosphere, from appetizers such as eggs en cocotte to main courses like beef bourguignon.
And, in the Bounty Rhumerie tradition, it offers also premium rums and rum cocktails in a pirate-ship setting.
While the bistro offers fine food cooked in cocottes or shallow cast iron baking dishes, it now offers an additional a la carte menu.
Starting with salad and appetizer, the bistro offers tuna tataki salad, smoked salmon salad, Caesar salad and marinaded octopus salad.
For sandwiches, there are foie gras and beef burgers, ham and truffle sandwich and smoked salmon club sandwich.
A main course highlight is seared sea bass with chorizo black risotto, sweet peas and lemon beurre blanc. The dish is colorful, moist and has a refreshing flavor. Another favorite is crispy pork belly with braised lentil and arugula salad; the pork belly takes a while to prepare but chef Alex Yu says it's worth the wait.
Main courses also feature duck confit, beef rib eye stead and stuffed chicken breast.
Desserts include chocolate fondant, roasted banana, waffles and a glass of champagne; fruits and strawberry tiramisu are also on the menu.
Located in the latest dining destination, Sinan Mansions, Bounty X is unlike the two other Bounty Rhumeries, one at 550 Wuding Road, the other at 47 Yongfu Road. It combines the comfort of a bistro with a rum bar.
Decorated like a pirate ship, the wooden interior has a seafaring feel, ships cables ring the bar, the wall is decorated with maps and vintage compasses.
Cooperating with rum producer Rhum Damoisceau, Bounty X uses its premium Bounty Rhum as the base for its cocktails.
Bounty rum is made from sugarcane; it's an agricultural rum; industrial rums are produced by distilling molasses.
Most patrons who don't know rums are more familiar with industrial rums.
For fun, customers can exchange their cash for pirate Bounty doubloons, in "gold," "silver" and copper and use them to pay for drinks and dinner.
Doubloons can be used at all three bounty branches.
A gold coin is valued at 35 yuan (US$5.6), a silver doubloon buys a free select cocktail, and a copper coin buys a surprise every day.
