All-star Thanksgiving charity gig

GLOBAL charity organization BEAN is bringing together an all-star lineup for a concert to celebrate Thanksgiving at Shanghai's Yuyingtang live house tomorrow night.
The event features five of the hottest acts in Shanghai, including psychedelic indie rockers Rainbow Danger Club, Britpop group Girls Like Mystery, DJ Verse@ille with MC TianTian, soft folk group The Horde, party rockers Scary Magic and DJ BO - aka Shanghai Daily columnist Brian Offenther.
The lineup is a cross section of the city's music scene, with performers from China, the United States, Canada, South Africa, England and Scotland, and genres spanning folk to hip-hop.
This will be Rainbow Danger Club's first gig since the release of their latest EP "Into the Cellar" and is the first performance at Yuyingtang by DJ Verse@ille. The popular hip-hop DJ will be appearing on stage alongside Chinese rapper MC TianTian.
All of the 50-yuan (US$8) entrance fee will go to charity, including a part donated to BEAN operations to buy items such as diapers, books, paint and other supplies.
BEAN was founded in 2003 in Seattle in the United States. The group aims to bring together young people who care about making a positive difference in the world.
"All the bands, promoters and other workers have agreed to work at the event for no pay, which is very generous," says DJ BO, who is helping stage the gig.
There will also be a charity raffle at the event, with prizes, including Marshall headphones, a beer tab at Shanghai bar INFERNO, a 500-yuan gift certificate to Boxing Cat Brewery, a T-shirt from local art company Twin Horizon and more, according to the organizer.
Date: November 23, 9-11:59pm (The first band will play at 9:30pm)
